Little Gnome

As part of a recent incentive promotion Stampin' Up! recently offered to demonstrators (and I qualified for!) I earned a few free products! Yay! Who doesn't love free stuff???

One of the FIVE sets I earned free is in our upcoming Occasions Mini Catalogue and is called "Gnome Sweet Gnome". I had the opportunity to spend some time in my craft room this morning, so I wanted to try a card using this new set.

This is what I came up with:

Awe, too cute. ;)  The designer paper is our new "Twitterpated" paper also in the new mini.  Again I used the new Labels Collection Framelit dies and our Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and Embossing Folders.

The little flower brad in the center of the ribbon bow is one of the FREE items in our Sale-a-Bration catalogue this year.  It's part of a brad AND ribbon package!  LOVE it!

Hope you like it.  Thanks for popping by!!!

Move over mistletoe...

...It's Birthday time!!!

It's my mother-in-law's birthday on Christmas Eve and from what I've been told by many with birthday's so close to the holiday is their birthday's tend to be pushed aside or kind of just blend in with the rest of the festivities. That's so sad! SO, when I sat down to stamp her a birthday card, I wanted to make sure her card was definitely birthday-related with no Christmas in sight! ;)

Here's what I came up with!

I was absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out!  Now, you may spot a few things on this card you haven't seen before.  That's because I used some of the new products I was allowed to preorder from our upcoming Occasions Mini catalogue that starts in January!  Also, I can't take full credit for this design.  I actually copied the basic layout from the example on the front of the mini catalogue and just made a few minor changes. :)

The color combination started from the floral designer paper on the front.

That's a piece of our upcoming Twitterpated dsp.  LOVE!  From there I stamped the floral label image from our new Apothecary Art stamp set and then cut it out with our new Labels Collection Framelits die!  Oh my goodness...you won't want to miss out on those.  These wafer thin dies come in sets of 6 so they're perfect for instant layering.  While I am not allowed to post pictures of the actual product yet, I CAN show you examples of projects I've made with them. Take my word you'll want to see this catalogue ASAP! ;)

The beautiful cut and embossed edge on the right of the card and the scallop peeking out from under the designer paper?  Oh yes, more new products!

It's our new Adorning Accents Edgelits dies and embossing folders!  Easy to use and oh so gorgeous!!!

I finished the card with some sticky strip and Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon, a piece of our crochet trim and a large rhinestone brad.

OH, and that little stamped skeleton key on the tag?  That's one of the stamps in our Elementary Elegance stamp set you can receive FREE during Sale-a-Bration!  Um ya...you won't want to miss that! ;)

I love this card so much I plan to make a 2nd soon to keep!  I didn't want to part with this one! ;)

Happy Stamping!

And 3 more makes 5....

If you visited my blog over the past two weeks you would have seen my Snow Swirled and JOYful Ornament cards. They are actually 2 of 5 cards that I offered at a Christmas card class a friend had asked me to do for her. The class was last night and so I thought I should post the remaining three cards we stamped.

Each card uses some of our Letters to Santa designer series paper. I love the color combinations in this paper.

This is a fairly simple card with the images being stamped on a Whisper White Top Note I cut with my Big Shot.

This card had the ornaments stamped first on scrap Whisper White cardstock, cut out and then popped up with dimensionals.

I think this is one of my favorites.  The large scallop circle was cut on the Big Shot and the large white circle I cut with my Circle Scissor Plus.  We also embossed the bottom Marina Mist cardstock with my Square Lattice embossing folder for some added texture.

Happy Stamping!

A Winter Post

Just a really quick post to show you what I made earlier this week and am finding a little addictive. ;)

I was recently introduced to these adorable matchbook style tag books at a demonstrator get together earlier this year and knew I would be making more.

I decorated the front with a piece of our Letters to Santa designer series paper, a small scallop border punched from some Early Espresso cardstock and added a Whisper White snowflake cut with my Northern Frost sizzlet die, covered in Dazzling Diamonds glitter and adhered with a Mini Silver Brad.

Inside is 6 stamped gift tags ready to go at a moments notice. I stamped the tags with one of my favorite winter sets "Winter Post".  This particular stamp set is currently part of our Online Extravaganza sale and is normally priced at $32.95 but until November 30th is ONLY  $16.48

Each tag has been perforated along the left side using our awesome cutter kit so they can easily be removed from the booklet.

I have an order going in tomorrow and Wednesday and possibly one next week as well, so if this set (or any of the other sale items that catch your eye) are on your wish list, let me know and I would be happy to add them to one of these orders for you to save on shipping. I will also include an instruction sheet with all the dimensions for this matchbook tag booklet so you can recreate it at home!

This is one of the projects I did with my Stampers 6 Club last night and am doing with my second club this evening.

I'm hoping to start up a new Stampers Club in January.  If you would be interested in joining a club, meeting once every other month to stamp projects I've prepped and earning Hostess Rewards ('cause who doesn't like free product!) let me know and I can give you additional details!

Happy Stamping!

From Rooftop to Home Decor

If you happened to visit my Stampin' Up! Facebook page last night, you may have seen my question about incorporating roofing material into home decor. I know, sounds completely crazy, right? I would have thought so too...until I came across this particular project and immediately had to try it.

Here's a pic of my finished project:

Top view:

Without the tealight:

Isn't it gorgeous????   Can you guess what it's made from??? Would you believe it's cut from a piece of aluminum flashing? Yup, the same stuff that's used on your homes roof!  I KNOW!!!

I've seen it around "blogland" recently and of course I had to jump on the bandwagon and give it a go!

I popped into one of our local hardware stores and picked up a roll of silver aluminum flashing.  I picked up the narrowest roll I could find (6") but they all come in 50' lengths!!!  Let's just say I've got LOOOOOTS left!

Using my Big Shot and my Snowflake #2 Bigz die, I cut out a snowflake.

Now, that may sound simple enough, but I will say it was a little tricky.  Aluminum flashing is a little thicker than a soda can, so to make sure the blade would cut all the way through and not just "dent" it, I needed to use a few paper shims.  Each Big Shot is a little different, but for me I needed a total of 4 additional layers.  Fewer than that didn't cut the flashing all the way through and more than that and the sandwich just felt too thick and I didn't want to force it through.

Please Note:  You can ONLY use the Bigz or Original dies to cut anything other than paper.  If you attempt this with a sizzlet die, you'll ruin it.  Bigz and Original dies are steel and so they're extremely strong.  Sizzlets have a chemically etched blade which allows a much more detailed design, but are ONLY made to cut through a single layer of paper at a time.

Once cut out, I used my stylus to help push out the smaller pieces.  I chose to wear gardening gloves while doing this.  The cut snowflake wasn't sharp, but the outside piece was and I didn't want to take any changes of slicing open my fingers!

All punched out:

I cut out a 2nd snowflake and layered it on top of the first.

I then pushed the top snowflake "arms" down and pulled the bottom snowflake "arms" up.

Then, I added a few mini glue dots to the center between the two snowflakes and squished them together.  I chose to add the glue dots after I'd woven the snowflake arms together just because I found the arms didn't want to cooperate if the center was already glued together.

The final step was to place a tealight in the center and pull the upper snowflake arms around it to cradle it in place.  That's it!

It's not a difficult project, but it was time consuming.

Maybe you're interested in trying it out yourself but don't really think you want to commit to buying a 50' roll of aluminum!  Because I highly doubt I'll be using the entire roll I purchased anytime soon, I would be happy to sell some at only $1/foot.  Each snowflake used a 6" piece.

Are you interested in seeing how I added the snowflake image to the top of my tealight?  Check back soon and I'll show how quick and simple it is.

Happy Stamping!
